Woven from plants and knots, shaped with care, brushes and hand brooms carry with them stories and ancestral know-how. If transforming sorghum and other plants into everyday objects inspires you, this workshop invites you to discover how precise and graceful gestures give life to authentic creations.

This is an opportunity to reconnect with a valuable heritage while crafting sustainable, meaningful, and environmentally friendly items.

What you will learn: ancestral binding techniques used to make various types of brushes and hand brooms for the home, how to make several types of brushes and brooms vegetable brush, round hand broom, duck wing broom, fly swatter using fibres from sorghum, a plant that can be grown in our gardens.

What you leave with: A round brush, a duck wing brush, a fly swatter

Katryne Dubé

Katryne Dubé was born in the heart of the boreal forest, where her connection to nature took root at an early age. Inspired by plants from near and far, she developed a craft centered on fiber and leather, favoring natural and sustainable practices. Trained by the only traditional broom maker in Quebec, she now carries on this art by creating handmade brushes and brooms. She also transforms hunting remnants into leather, which she shapes into everyday objects, blending utility, respect for living beings, and ancestral knowledge.
