Evening Details
Because we all need moments to come together, Festival Twist is launching a Saturday evening filled with warmth, connection, and community spirit, all in the charming village of Ripon!
The evening begins at 5 p.m. with a friendly 5 à 7, featuring a delicious dinner prepared by the Coopérative du Marché. Then, we settle in for a screening of KEDI, a touching short documentary by Ceyda Torun that celebrates the tenderness of Istanbul’s street cats and the deep bonds between humans and animals.
The night continues with an intimate and inspiring conversation with Safia Nolin, followed by a heartfelt musical performance that opens a window into her unique world.

We start with KEDI, a beautiful documentary by Ceyda Torun that tenderly captures the lives of Istanbul’s cats and their quiet relationships with people. A gentle, heartwarming film about connection.

"Kedi" Documentary Synopsis
Kedi follows the everyday lives of several stray cats roaming the streets of Istanbul. These felines are true residents of the city, forming unique bonds with the people around them. The film is a poetic tribute to freedom, resilience, and the deep interconnection between humans and animals. Neither fully wild nor fully domesticated, Istanbul’s street cats embody a rare form of harmonious urban coexistence.

Safia Nolin
Her journey is one of identity exploration, a deep dive into difference and marginality. As a racialized, lesbian, and artistically non-conforming woman, she challenges societal norms and expectations. Her aesthetic, both raw and poetic, celebrates imperfection and authenticity.

In her new album, UFO RELIGION, Nolin expresses a profound sense of alienation, a longing to escape a world that fails to see her. Through minimalist melodies and stripped-down instrumentation, she delivers an introspective work, woven with both melancholy and hope. Nature, both a refuge and a wellspring of inspiration, emerges as a central character in the album, offering a counterpoint to human alienation.

Recorded in nature, this album carries a visceral urgency. It reflects a process of transformation, an artistic rebirth. Like a chrysalis ready to emerge, Nolin breaks free of her chains to fully assert herself.
