In this workshop, you will learn how to create rolags that spin easily using various fibre preparation tools. Together, we will explore the benefits of this woollen preparation technique, how to combine different fibres, and how to spin these small, adorable, and fun-to-make rolls.

What is provided (for the duration of the workshop)

Fibres will be provided for everyone, and blending boards will be available for participants who do not have one (maximum 8).

What to bring

Your blending board, if you have one, or your hand carders. Traditional long metal knitting needles. A notebook and paper for taking notes.

Alexina Hicks

Alexina Hicks and her partner Yves-Antoine are the makers behind L’aime Laine. Based in Mauricie, they design and create drop spindles and other spinning tools. Since 2017, Alexina has been teaching knitting, spinning, and other aspects of fibre processing and transformation. She also offers locally sourced fibres at every stage of processing. A proud representative of the Majacraft spinning wheels, she has also completed the Master Spinner study program.
