Gelli printing is great for surface design, mark-making, mixed media, backgrounds, to add texture, and can be embellished, cut, sewn, layered, collaged, stamped, and printed on a variety of substrates. Explore its potential on fabric and paper using acrylics, other mediums, found objects, and mark-making tools. This 3 hour workshop is great for beginners or to get reacquainted with your gel plate! Join me for a session of play and exploration. 

At end of this workshop, you will leave with samples printed in class. You will also leave with your own gelli plate and brayer to continue your learning at home!

  • A gelli plate (which is yours afterwards)
  • A brayer (which is yours afterwards)
  • A variety of paint brushes (1/4"", 1/2"", 1"")
  • Acrylic paints and other mediums
  • Mark-making tools, and a variety of consumable tools for mark-making
  • A variety of papers and fabrics; Handouts "
  • A gelli plate (which is yours afterwards)
  • A brayer (which is yours afterwards)
  • A variety of paint brushes (1/4"", 1/2"", 1"")
  • Acrylic paints and other mediums
  • Mark-making tools, and a variety of consumable tools for mark-making

What to bring
  • A variety of acrylic paints, if you have (some will be provided)
  • A couple of rags or paper towels.
  • Some papers (any type), or plain (tight-weave) fabrics to print on (a variety will be provided).
  • Options you can try: Canvas, decorative papers, matboard, rice papers, deli paper, etc.
  • An apron or wear “painting-friendly” clothing
  • A table covering to protect the table"

Anne Warburton

Anne Warburton is a fibre artist who creates dynamic fibre art from repurposed materials and altering fabrics and papers using mark-making tools. Her art is inspired by the "wow" of nature's lines around us. She makes her art by sewing layers of fabrics together, then slashing, deconstructing and heat distressing to reveal not only the layers below but also a bit of herself in each piece. Shaping, stitching and embellishing to highlight the beauty within are her final steps. Anne is trained in the expressive arts therapies and is fascinated about how creativity helps us in our personal journeys.
