In this workshop, you will learn how to fix knitting mistakes without ripping out your entire project. In this hands-on class, you’ll practice safely ripping back, picking up stitches, placing them back on your needles, and using tools like lifelines and cables to stay in control. Perfect for knitters who want more confidence and less frustration when mistakes happen.

Required preparation (to be completed before class):

To give you a low-pressure way to practice (without risking a finished project), please bring 2 small swatches. Swatch 1 – knit flat: cast on 30–40 stitches using DK or worsted weight yarn, work in stockinette stitch (knit 1 row, purl 1 row) for approximately 4–5 inches, then bind off. Swatch 2 – knit in the round: create a small tube using the magic loop method, double-pointed needles, or a small circular needle, with a total of 30–40 stitches, knit in the round for approximately 4–5 inches, then bind off. Optional but encouraged: drop a stitch anywhere in the project and secure it with a removable stitch marker (such as a safety-pin style marker).

Julie Ann Lebouthillier

Julie Ann Lebouthillier is a knitwear designer, teacher, and the creative force behind Twin Stitches Designs. Based in New Brunswick, Canada, she’s been knitting for over a decade and designing patterns since 2018, with more than 200 designs published. Julie is best known for her approachable teaching style and her deep love of sock knitting. She’s the author of Knit a Box of Socks and her upcoming second book, Knit a Box of Christmas Socks. Her work has been featured with brands like Knit Picks, We Are Knitters, and Lion Brand, and she has taught at knitting festivals, retreats, and events across North America.

Julie is passionate about helping knitters build confidence, customize their projects, and truly understand the “why” behind their stitches.
