This workshop is intended for people who already have a basic knowledge of botanical printing but would like to explore colour application in prints. You will experiment with “blanket” printing, meaning the use of layers or coverings for the application of tannins, iron, or colours. You will also look at how the pH of certain plants can be used in printing.

Participants will be contacted in advance by the professor in order to determine a background color for their project. 

NB this workshop will be in French only. Please leave us a comment in your order if you need translation assistance.

What you leave with: Your wool scarf, a test sample, and the notes document.

Prerequisites

Have a basic experience in botanical printing, as the fundamental principles (such as mordanting and printing techniques) will not be presented or explained.

What is provided (for the duration of the workshop)

100% merino wool scarf measuring 24" x 82", fabric for test samples, absorbent fabrics for rolling, blankets for printing, cotton ribbons for tying, plants and natural dye materials, and a course notes document.

What to bring

Apron and dishwashing gloves.
