Julie Lacroix
Originally from a small mountain village in the French Alps, Julie Lacroix holds degrees in Product Design (France) and Textile Construction (Montreal). In 2014, she created the association Tissons des liens autour du monde, with the aim of meeting textile artisans in the countries she visited, between New Zealand and Southeast Asia. Following this experience, she moved to Montreal to further her knowledge of textile know-how. Knitting, weaving and embroidery became tools of experimentation throughout her training in textile construction at the Montreal Centre for Contemporary Textiles (MCCT). A finalist for the Prix François Houdé (2022), she developed her own language of unconventional knitting. Now she lives in the Haute Gaspésie region, where she is keen to share her knowledge and put down roots in the region through her work.
