In this workshop, you'll learn how to print flowers, leaves and other natural extracts directly onto fiber. An impressive process within everyone's reach! We'll explore:
A quick introduction to natural dyeing; fiber preparation, mordants and tannins
Plants ideal for botanical printing (flowers, leaves, stems, roots)
Basic ecoprinting techniques (folding, cooking, etc.)
Tataki-zome or hammering (demonstration)
During the workshop, we'll make a printed apron from dried and fresh plants. Each participant will also be given a notebook and a dyeing diary in which to record their notes and samples.
