Description

Easier than the elastic bracelet loom and as ancient as the Vikings, lucet braiding will be used to create a circular mat without sewing! During this workshop, square braid and “braiding the braid” techniques will be taught using a dual lucet (Ducette®) with a ball of yarn created from a Tee shirt! Come and enjoy making something unique that is both decorative and useful! To stimulate the imagination, there will be many examples of other uses for lucet braiding such as jewellery, home decor and wearable fashion items.

What to bring

scissors, crochet hook (4 mm), your own lucet/Ducette® if you have one

Material provided:

Illustrated instructions for square braid and mat in French and English; T-shirt yarn for a square braid sample and mat project; the use of the instructor's Ducette®'s or any other tools needed for the project ; instructions for cutting a shirt to make yarn Notes: The instructor will have extra hooks and scissors for in class use as needed and the Canadian made wooden Ducette® will be available to buy for use during the class and/or to take home for the special workshop price of $25.
