Description

Learn how to needle felt an animal with an armature. The armature allows you to define the shape you want to give to the body, and to give a realistic pose to the animal. Once the participants have built the armature, they’ll learn how to needle felt the body to reach the desired size and shape. They will then add the final details to give life to their creation and make it unique.

What to bring

  • Bent pliers
  • Participants can bring their own tools such as :
  • felting mat
  • needles for felting (we will use 36:38: 40: star: twist: reverse: etc.)
  • But the material is offered as a kit for the course.

Material provided:

  • Wool for the body and detailing
  • Needles
  • Metal wire
  • Pipe cleaner for the armature
  • Other supplies.

Philippe Bourgeois discovered needle felting five years ago. He has been exploring that technique with his wife, Kathryne Bourgeois, from an artistic, but also utilitarian point of view, through their business Focus Pokatus. He has perfected his technique by doing workshops with Marjokeil Dallinga, Pamella A. MacGregor and Sara Renzulli. You can see his passion for his art in the realistic and fantastic felted animals he creates.
