Louise Lemieux-Bérubé

Born in Montreal, Louise Lemieux Bérubé has graduated in Art History from the University of Quebec in Montreal. She has studied Jacquard weaving at the Rhodes Island School of Design and combines her skills in photography, computerized textile creations and weaving.

As a professional artist for more than 30 years, she has exhibited in Canada as well as in many countries of the world. Her work is represented in public collections (including the Canadian Embassy in London, UK; Deutsches Technikmuseum, Berlin; Place des Arts in Montréal, Montreal Museum of Fine Art, etc.) as well as in numerous private collections.

Lemieux Bérubé is the cofounder of the Montreal Centre for Contemporary Textiles where she has taught students from around the world during and where she has curated numerous textile exhibitions. She is the author of Le Tissage créateur (1998), a text book for weavers, and the co-author, with Carole Greene, of her biography, Unwinding the Threads (2012).

En 2013, she receives « la médaille de chevalière de l’Ordre national du Québec » et, en 2015, celle de « l’Ordre du Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec ».
