30 minutes followed by a viewing of the film Les Cornouailles (Ice Warrior) by Pierre Perreault (50 minutes -  in French only)

Content:

The wild musk ox is the only mammal that can withstand the coldest climate of the highest up north Arctic; No wonder why its very fine and precious under coat fibre, the Qiviut ends up being one of the most insulating textile fibre! Come hear the story of the few attempts to use and market the musk ox fibre in Canada history, along with the challenges that these nearly prehistoric beasts have to face.

Come listen to the history of some initiatives, historical and recent, that aim to use and market this precious fibre...

The conference includes a hand spinning demonstration of Qiviut and the viewing of the film of the National Film Board "Cornouailles" (available in French only), depicting the beauty and fragility of the musk ox's way of life, a beast that is practically prehistoric !

LIVE PODCAST and KNITTING GROUPS MEET UP

Twist is a huge party and the occasion to build ties with our virtual communities ! This year we suggest you take part at our Social media brunch hosted by Julie Desjardins from ACCROchet ! It will be the perfect occasion to meet your Facebook friends or your Ravelry colleagues to discuss your WIPs. Different group banners will be displayed to stimulate meetings around a good breakfast or a coffee ! It's the place to be to meet the administrators of the groups you follow and to attend the live recording podcasts of:

The farm Le moment présent will be on site all weekend with its fibre animals and available to answer the public's question. Come see and touch rabbits and alpacas and learn more about the breeding of these furry beasts !

Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 9 :00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m

From Thursday August 17th, French artist Natacha Sansoz will assemble a Yarnbombing knitted artwork on the festival's site. She will offer a textile creation to visitors present on site. Festival-goers will see her at work and partake on this collective work throughout the festival. She will also offer an initiation to Yarnobombing workshop  on Saturday from 1 :30 p.m. to 4 :30 p.m. (must register in advance here)


The Bobbin Dance

Dog Demos (sheep herding demos)

Saturday 10:30 and 15:30 / Sunday 10:00 and 11:00

New this year : dog demos! A herding dog, also known as a working dog, is a type of pastoral dog that either has been trained in herding or is of a breed developed for herding. Their ability to be trained to act on the sound of a whistle or word command is renowned throughout the world. Border Collies, sheep and their shepherd will be on site to demonstrate their abilities.
